Grief support: how to find help that fits
Different kinds of grief support do different things. This page explains the options, and helps you find what is available where you live.
No account is needed to search or to use the checklist. If you are in immediate danger, call 911. In the United States, call or text 988 for the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline.
Choosing where to start
- If you feel unsafe, start with a crisis line. Nothing else needs to happen first.
- If you feel alone in it, a peer group often helps sooner than anything else.
- If grief is affecting daily functioning for weeks, ask a clinician about counseling.
- If the paperwork is what is drowning you, work through the practical list instead.
