Cemetery Plot Value Estimator

A plot is often the one asset a family has no idea how to price. This gives a planning range and, just as usefully, the fees that come off the top when a plot changes hands.

What kind of space is it?
What kind of cemetery?
Where is it?

Location moves plot prices more than anything else.

Planning range
$1,800 to $3,250

What comparable spaces commonly ask. It is not an appraisal and not an offer.

Before you count on that number
  • Resale usually lands below the cemetery's own current price, often $1,200 to $2,150.
  • Most cemeteries charge a transfer or recording fee, commonly $100 to $500.
  • Opening and closing is a separate charge to the buyer, often $1,000 to $3,000.
  • Some cemeteries hold a right of first refusal, or forbid private resale entirely.
  • Endowment or perpetual care may be owed before a transfer is recorded.
A plot deed is a right of interment, not real estate, and the cemetery sets the rules for transferring it.
